Notes for Teuntie STRAETSMANS

She was a widow at the time of her marrige to George Haff. Teuntie has a sister Barentie Straetsman wife of Hans de Backer living at Fort Orange, NY. October 25, 1662 Upon the death of Teuntie Straetsmans, wife of Gabriel Coprbesy, in her lifetime living at the Gowanus, who on her deathbed had urgently requested that henricus Selyns and Teunis Jassen, minister and deacon, take care of and look after her orphans left behind, Laurens Haf and Anna Tienemans, we interred the afore-mentioned Teuntie and, on the following Wednesday, went to the house of the deceased with the entire consistory, in accordance with our duty and promises, in order to make a certain inventory of the goods for the benefit of the children, which we found thus:

Inventory of the estate and goods belonging to Teuntie Straetsmans, who lived at Gowanus, died on the 19th of October of the present year, 1662 and left behind:

1. Gabriel Corbesij, her widower
2. Margariet Meijring, daughter of Jan Meyring, to whom she willed through a donation a black
undershirt, a black apron, a smaller apron, and a round handkerchief with a linen undershirt.
3. Laurens haf, son of Gerog haf, in his lifetime field-trumpeter in Brazil
4. Annatie Tienemans, dauhter of Tieneman Jacobsen. (we found) First, the afore-mentioned unedershirt, apron, smaller apron, handkerchief, and linen
undershirt, belonging to the body of the deceased and willed to the eldest daughter. Second, sixty
guilders in sewan, form a certain house sold in Manhattan; this money would be given to Hendrick Jansen van de Ven. Third, tow small pieces of linen measuring thirty-five els 34 altoghether, which was divided in two: one half for Gabriel Corbesij and the other half for the children; (this latter half) will be subjivided in three: for Margariet, Laurens, and Anna, for the latter two of whom shirts will be made from their shares. Also, one and a half els of blue linen, which Gabriel has donated to hte children and which would be used for aprons for Annatie. Fourth, sent to Barentie Straetsman, wife of hans de Backer, living at Fort Orange, to be sold on behalf of the deceased. 155 Pumkins, 55 Waterlemons, 200 Beetroots, 33 Calabashes, 5 1/2 schepels of onions.
