Notes for Lourens Jurianse HAFF

Recife was a Dutch colony in Brazil Laurens Haff, form Brizil, about 13 years of age and the son of the late Georg Haff and Teuntie Straetsmans, November 22, 1662. Custody Contract. We. the undersigned, acknowledge hereby that we, as executors fo the late Teuntie Straetsmans' last will and as supervisors of her minor children, have placed, and do place, Laurens Haff, son of the late Georgie Haff, trumpeter, in the custody of Henricus Selijns, minister of the Holy Gospel in his congregation in Breuckelen in New Netherland, in order to live in his house and to serve him for a period of six consecutive years. The aforementioned Henricus Selijns promised, and promises with his own signature, to provide this Laurens with proper board and clothing during the aforesaid years, to send him to school in winter or teach him properly himself, and to treat him in a proper way.
