While on march on the Peninsula between Yorktown and Richmond in July 1863 became helpess in the legs so that he was unable to walk.

Misc Info:

20 June 1891 declaration for widow's pension witnessed by Wesley Holdren and William Derr, they both stat they both new George Holdren well, Knew Jelana Holdren 30 and 35 years. Wesley Holdren is George's cousin raised in same to (White Hall) before entering service. 17 Aug 1891 affidavit by Thomas Derr, age 54, White Hall, Montour Co, states he was acquainted with both George and Jelana Holdren and knew them before their marriage.

Military File: Joined 21 Oct 1862 for 9 monthes at Camp Curtin, Pa (age 26) Mustered in 2 Nov 1862, Cpl, Co G, 178th Rgt Pa drafted military Infantry. Mustered out 27 Jul 1863 at Camp Curtin Pa. Muster Roll.
