Notes for Catharina STEICHEN

SOURCE: Newspaper Obit. Widow's pension papers.
LDS FILM #1135142 Bous (birth record)
ALIAS: Cathryn Mary Steichen / Catherine / Katherine

Catherine was from Rollingen a commune of Bous in the Canton of Remich Luxembourg. A canton is like a county here in the states. I have a Newspaper article from a Luxembourg paper that reads Catherine and her older sister Elise were from Rollingen Luxembourg and came to Rapid City South Dakota in 1881. From the church records in Lead South Dakota I learned that Catherine parents were Michael Stiechen and Katharina Stiechen. On her father side of the Family, her grandfather Dominique Steichen also married a Steichen girl by the name of Marie Steichen.
