Mrs. P. Gilson, 76, Former Resident, Dies at Fredonia. Husband and Sons Founded, Gilson Brothers Co. in Village of Fredonia. Funeral Held Monday: Was married in Old Country. Cuople Came to U.S. in 1901 Settling in the City of Port Washington; Moved Later. Mrs Catherne Gilson 76 nee Catherine Steichen passed away at her home in Fredonia at 2:15 a.m. Friday, Sept 29, after an illness of many years. The deceased was born Feb 28, 1863 at Beringen, Luxembourg, and married to Philip Gilson on Mar. 23, 1882 at Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg. The couple with their family immigrated to this country in the fall of 1901. They settled in Port Washington. Since 1911 they resided at Fredonia where her husband and sons founded the present Gilson Bros. Co. In 1932 Mr. and Mrs. Gilson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs. Gilson was a faithfull member of the Christian Mothers Society, the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters and a lifelong member of the Society of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Mrs. Gilson will be missed among her friends and neighbors, as she was an ideal mother and of true Christian character, her husband passed away five years ago, Mrs Gilson was the mother of eight children two having preceded her in death. The surviving are Mrs. Anna Duprel, Sturgis, South Dakota, Michael and John of Fredonia, Mrs Josephine Untereiner, Dimock, South Dakota, Margaret at home, Mrs Alice Steffen of Fredonia. One brother Henry Steichen of Fort Worth, Texas, 18 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.M. Monday at St. Rose of Lima church at Fredonia, burial being made in the church cemetery. Rev. O. Winninghoff, officiated. The pallbearers were the following: Jerome Gilson, John Untereiner, Philip and Norbert Steffen, Raymond Possely and Bernard Solms. The Christian Mothers society attended the funeral in a body.
