               William Holdren married 1842 to Sarah Derr at Columbia Co. Pa. Their first three children were born at Chicago, IL. About 1849 the family moved to Melgin Grove in Lee Co. IL.

               William Holdren enlisted as a private in Comapny I, Regiment 89th Illionis Infantry and lost his life in the Civil War in the battle of Stones River, Murfressboro, Tenn. After William death his wife Sarah Derr married Samuel Carnahan on 1 May 1866. Sarah's sister Phoebe, was married to John Holdren, William brother.

Derr was born in "Germantown" PA. July 1830. It states that his parents were from Germany stttling in "Germantown" PA., Columbia Co. PA. (Columbia Co. was created in 1813 from Northuberland Co. The obituary also states that Jacob was the youngest of Eight and that there were 3 boys and five girls. Jacob came to Illinois as a young man and spent his early life at Dixon, Lee Co. IL.

 

                Note #2:  I  seen two more children for Jacob Derr and Mary A. Geisinger.  1st J.W. Derr, 2nd Nellie Derr who married Mason Morey.

                Albert Derr's mother passed away when he was 14 months old. He was raised by his aunt Lucy Derr-Wertman, mostly. He then lived with Mr. & Mrs Charlie Ware. When he was about 13 he lived on a farm near Prairieville, IL.

                He was only a small boy at the time of the Dixon disaster, when he had stepped off the new bridge a few minutes before it collapsed.  (from his obituary) Mattie: AKA: Leavens
